Steve Prather for Acworth City Council
Steve Prather is running for city council to continue his service in Acworth. Over the last 30 years, Steve has volunteered on boards and committees to ensure that Lake Acworth is healthy, expand parks, and revive the downtown business district.
A graduate of North Cobb High School and Kennesaw State University, Steve is a 6th generation Acworth area native. He is a descendant of the namesake of Baker Elementary School, George Stephen Baker and the first sheriff of Acworth, Marion Prather.
Steve and his wife of 32 years, Lori, raised their three children, Drew, Marina and Cera in Acworth. Their love of the lake and the parks are what continue to drive Steve to serve in this community. Steve has been supporting the Acworth Community as the Co-Chair of the Acworth Lake Authority, as a member of the city Comprehensive Planning Steering Committee helping plan for Acworth’s future growth and as a founding member of the Special Needs Development Group which has responsibility for overseeing the city’s special needs programs including the creation of the Horizon Field in the Acworth Sports Complex.
Steve Prather currently serves on the City of Acworth’s Lake Authority and as a founding member of the city's Special Needs Development Group. Former President of KSU Alumni Association
Decades of financial management experience of global enterprises in eight international regions. Current Acworth small business owner.
Member of North Star Church in Acworth and coached baseball, football and soccer in Acworth youth sports. Active member of the Acworth Business Association
Steve has spent 60 of his 62 years in this community and more than half of those in the city limits of Acworth with his family.
